Staff Profiles The following are example backgrounds of consulting staff that have recently been team members on iValue engagements. They are based in the US, Europe, and Asia.
Leader: Thomas is a thought leader at iValue. He was the CIO of a multi-billion dollar firm responsible for all technology activities, including user support, applications development, data center operations, voice/video/data communications, knowledge management, and web-based outsourcing. During that period he reduced IT expenses by 30%. His key accomplishment include: Unifying the enterprise technology infrastructure; integrating web-based collaborative technologies into the work environment; global data center consolidation, shifting to a hybrid shared services model; building a knowledge management system with millions ofpages of content; and converting HR to Internet-based self-service. Prior to that, he was at McKinsey & Company and several high technology corporations. He has been a faculty member in the School of Engineering at an Ivy League University. He holds a PhD in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from MIT, and a BS in Mathematics from the US Military Academy at West Point.
Expert: Ali is a subject matter expert at iValue. He assists global organizations and service providers in their planning, cost/financial analysis, and technology deployment. He has received three patents related to telecommunication architecture for broadband and narrowband networks and was responsible for defining the AMPS air interface protocol standards for wireless communications. He also contributed to the development of key technologies such as 56K modems, voice messaging, ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) standards as well as Digital Subscriber Lines (DSL) and transition of the cable industry to a digital environment in support of video and telecommunication services. He is a former member of the technical staff at AT&T Bell Laboratories. His clients include: Aon, AT&T, Bellsouth, Cisco Systems, Lucent Technologies, Samsung, Sony, and State Farm Insurance. He has authored several papers on telecommunication network architecture and technology. He is an adjunct professor in the Telecommunication Management Department at Rutgers. He holds Masters and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Iowa
Manager: Xiang is a manager at iValue. He has a blend of experience as a general surgeon, medical doctor, management consultant, and financial analyst. He left medicine to work in the financial services industry as a venture capitalist where he identified and evaluated scientific validity and commercial viability of technologies through scientific and market due diligence, including discussions with scientific thought leaders. In this capacity he successfully in-licensed two late-stage compounds addressing markets in excess of $1 billion. He has served companies in the high technology, professional services, and healthcare industries. His work has involved international business and trade in Europe and Asia. He speaks German fluently. He received his M.D. from the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine and received residency training in general surgery at St. Barnabas Hospital. His undergraduate degree is in biology from Williams College.
Associate: Laura is an associate at iValue. Previously she was a consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers and is an expert in professional services and wireless computing. She began her consulting career with a large UK technical consulting house, following a period with a software company. She has served clients in many industries, including professional services, insurance, media and entertainment, pharmaceuticals, and petrochemicals. Her clients have included General Accident, AXA Sun Life, Oxford University Press, Sony Music Entertainment, Sandoz, BP, and Shell, as well as legal and consulting firms. She specialises in business and technology strategy, with particular emphasis on the effective support of knowledge workers and administration. She has an MBA from the Harvard Business School and a BA from Oxford in Politics, Philosophy and Economics.
Analyst: Ulrich is an analyst at iValue. He has contributed to the development of intellectual capital such as “Translating Strategy into Shareholder Value: A Company-Wide Approach to Value Creation” AMACOM 2003. He assisted with the development of a technology balanced scorecard for a top 10 global law firm. He is currently involved in research on technology costs and is a debate team coach during his personal time. He received a BA in Philosophy from the University of California at Berkeley. |
